In the Presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Companies Hand Over CSR Cheques to Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation; Government Plans to Link the Initiative with Local Farmers
Hyderabad: In a significant boost to Telangana’s school nutrition programme, leading pharmaceutical companies Divi’s Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma have extended Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support worth ₹22.18 crore for the implementation of the Government School Breakfast Scheme. The CSR cheques were formally handed over to the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The programme was held at Bodhi Pavilion in MCR HRD Institute, where representatives of the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, Divi’s Laboratories, and Aurobindo Pharma met the Chief Minister. On the occasion, Divi’s Laboratories contributed ₹12.18 crore while Aurobindo Pharma donated ₹10 crore under their CSR initiatives to strengthen the breakfast programme in government schools across the state.
The Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation is currently providing nutritious breakfast and mid-day meals to students in government schools. The initiative aims to improve children’s nutritional standards, enhance classroom participation, and promote better learning outcomes by ensuring that students receive healthy and balanced meals.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy appreciated Divi’s Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma for supporting the programme through their CSR contributions. He commended the companies for demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility and for partnering with the government in strengthening public education and child welfare.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister also shared the government’s vision of integrating the programme with the agricultural sector to benefit local farmers. He explained that wherever the Hare Krishna Foundation has established centralized kitchens, the government is exploring the possibility of sourcing vegetables, rice, and other essential food items directly from farmers in the surrounding areas.
The Chief Minister said the initiative would not only ensure a steady supply of fresh and quality produce for the meal programme but also provide farmers with a reliable market for their agricultural products. He further stated that the government intends to encourage farmers to adopt organic farming practices to meet the nutritional requirements of the scheme while promoting sustainable agriculture.
He added that the government is taking measures to ensure the availability of quality seeds to farmers, which would encourage scientific crop diversification and crop rotation. Such measures, he noted, would improve farm productivity, increase farmers’ incomes, and contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the initiative has the potential to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem by simultaneously improving children’s nutrition, strengthening government school education, supporting local farmers, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
The programme was attended by Government Advisor K. Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister N. Sridhar, President of Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhu Ji, Vice President of Divi’s Laboratories Limited Madhu Babu, Managing Director of Aurobindo Pharma Limited Nityananda Reddy, and other representatives.
