Hyderabad, April 18: In a major step toward strengthening Telangana’s reputation as a technology powerhouse, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday announced plans to establish a massive Information Technology Knowledge Hub in Puppalaguda, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The proposed IT hub will span 450 acres and is poised to significantly boost the city’s tech infrastructure while creating employment opportunities for nearly 5 lakh youth.
The announcement was made following a high-level review meeting chaired by the Deputy CM along with senior cabinet ministers on April 17. The project is being positioned as a game changer for Hyderabad’s IT sector, further reinforcing its place among India’s top destinations for technology investment.
Strategic Land Pooling and Reallocation
According to Deputy CM Vikramarka, the land designated for the IT hub includes parcels previously allotted to various beneficiaries including MLAs, MPs, IAS officers, revenue officials, and members of special police housing societies. However, the Supreme Court recently cancelled 200 acres of these allocations.
To address the land shortfall and ensure seamless development of the IT hub, the state government has decided to integrate an additional 250 acres of land under the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC), which lies adjacent to Puppalaguda. This move brings the total area for the hub to 450 acres.
Vision for Youth Employment and Economic Growth
Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, the Deputy CM stated:
“This is not just an IT park. It’s a transformative knowledge hub that will redefine the local economy and offer employment to nearly half a million young professionals.”
The new hub is expected to attract top-tier IT and technology firms, promote innovation, and provide a platform for startups and research institutions. It also aligns with the state government’s mission to decentralize development and expand employment zones beyond the traditional Hitech City and Gachibowli corridors.
Government’s Commitment to Infrastructure and Growth
The Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is pushing for a future-forward vision that focuses on balanced development, job creation, and innovation-led infrastructure.
With this new IT hub, Puppalaguda is set to emerge as a key satellite growth center, offering a blend of connectivity, planning, and potential for large-scale investments.
Further details on timelines, partnerships, and project execution are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
