HyperVault to develop a 1 GW AI data centre campus spread across 250+ acres; project expected to create 7,000 direct and indirect jobs and position Hyderabad at the forefront of the global AI revolution
Hyderabad, September 5, 2026: Telangana has taken a major leap towards establishing Hyderabad as a global hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI), with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) subsidiary HyperVault announcing plans to develop a massive AI data centre campus of up to 1,000 MW (1 GW) capacity across more than 250 acres in Hyderabad.
HyperVault and its partners are expected to invest up to ₹70,000 crore to build and manage the infrastructure. Once fully developed, the campus is expected to rank among the largest and most advanced AI infrastructure campuses in India.
7,000 Jobs Expected
The project is estimated to create around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, while also giving a major boost to Telangana’s wider AI infrastructure ecosystem.
Beyond the data centre itself, the investment is expected to catalyse growth across sectors including power, cooling, networking, construction, engineering and operations.
The purpose-built campus will provide high-density, liquid-cooled computing infrastructure at a global scale to support frontier AI companies, leading hyperscalers and global enterprises.
The project will also incorporate green energy and water-neutral design principles, reinforcing Telangana’s focus on sustainable digital infrastructure.
Revanth Reddy Calls Project ‘Historic’
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the project as a “historic” moment not only for Telangana but for India.
He said the investment demonstrates that Hyderabad is at the forefront of the global AI revolution, with a strong focus on building the infrastructure required for the next phase of technological growth.
“This decade is one of Artificial Intelligence. Access to AI models and compute is fast becoming public infrastructure, and having this compute reside in Telangana gives us an advantage,” the Chief Minister said.
From a Davos Meeting to a Landmark Investment
The project was conceptualised in record time following a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, in Davos in January 2026.
Following that meeting, officials from the Telangana government, TCS and HyperVault worked at speed to translate the discussions into a major investment partnership within a few months.
Telangana emerged ahead of five competing states to secure the project, making it one of the largest investment partnerships between a state government and a private-sector participant.
‘Telangana Means Business’: D. Sridhar Babu
Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who led the negotiations, said the agreement demonstrates the state’s ability to move quickly and efficiently on major investments.
“We tell investors and corporations across the world, Telangana Means Business,” he said, emphasising that the state combines speed with clarity of process to meet the expectations of the global technology and corporate sector.
He said the project originated from the conversation between the Chief Minister and N. Chandrasekaran in Davos and was subsequently developed at “the speed of thought” through close cooperation between the government, HyperVault and TCS.
TCS: Hyderabad Has the Scale and Talent
K. Krithivasan, CEO of TCS, said HyperVault advances TCS’ “Infrastructure-to-Intelligence” strategy by combining AI-ready infrastructure with the company’s cloud, engineering, enterprise transformation and AI capabilities.
He said Hyderabad offers the scale, talent and ecosystem required to serve global customers.
TCS also expressed its appreciation to the Telangana government for its support and investment-friendly policies.
