Major Push for Urban Expansion & Infrastructure Development
In a landmark decision to boost urban expansion and infrastructure development, the Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has approved two major initiatives:
1️⃣ The establishment of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) – a transformative step to develop a new urban hub and accelerate planned urbanization.
2️⃣ The expansion of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) – extending its jurisdiction to cover more areas, ensuring better governance and infrastructure planning.
These decisions align with Telangana’s vision of creating sustainable, well-connected, and economically thriving urban spaces.
Future City Development Authority (FCDA) – A New Urban Hub
The Future City Development Authority (FCDA) is set to play a key role in shaping Telangana’s urban landscape. The authority will oversee the development of a 30,000-acre urban hub, strategically positioned between Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam Highways.
Key Features of FCDA:
- Massive Urban Expansion – Covering 30,000 acres, this region is set to become a major residential, commercial, and industrial hub.
- 7 Mandals & 56 Villages Included – FCDA will integrate multiple regions for streamlined planning.
- Transfer of 36 Villages from HMDA – Ensuring focused development efforts under the new authority.
- 90 Sanctioned Posts – A mix of regular and outsourced roles will support FCDA operations.
This initiative aims to develop a well-planned, sustainable urban ecosystem, fostering economic growth, enhanced connectivity, and smart infrastructure.
HMDA Expansion – Strengthening Metropolitan Governance
In another major development, the Telangana Cabinet has approved the expansion of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), extending its jurisdiction up to the Regional Ring Road (RRR). This expansion will help manage rapid urbanization more efficiently.
Key Highlights of HMDA Expansion:
- HMDA Now Covers 11 Districts – Expanding beyond Hyderabad for balanced regional development.
- 104 Mandals & 1,355 Villages – More areas now come under HMDA’s jurisdiction.
- 332 Additional Revenue Villages Added – Enhancing urban planning and governance.
By incorporating new regions into HMDA, the government aims to promote systematic development, strengthen infrastructure, and create new investment opportunities.
A Vision for Telangana’s Future
With these initiatives, the Telangana government is setting the foundation for a new era of urban growth. The FCDA will serve as a catalyst for planned urbanization, while HMDA’s expansion will bring efficient governance to more areas.
Both projects will:
✅ Enhance connectivity & transportation networks
✅ Boost economic activity & investments
✅ Ensure planned, sustainable growth
✅ Create new employment opportunities
The Future City Development Authority (FCDA) and HMDA expansion mark a significant step toward transforming Telangana into a model state for urban infrastructure and sustainable development.
