Hyderabad/Karimnagar: Heavy rains in Telangana have thrown life out of gear, disrupting daily routines, travel, and even weddings. Amid this chaos, a dramatic incident unfolded in Karimnagar district where a groom had to be literally carried on the shoulders of his friends and relatives across a flooded stream to make it to his wedding on time.
The unusual scene quickly turned into a viral moment on social media, capturing both the struggle and the spirit of determination that ensured love conquered the flood.
Floods Turned Marriage Into a Challenge
As torrential rains lashed several parts of the state, Hyderabad’s IT companies declared work-from-home, while rural regions faced serious disruptions. In Karimnagar, a groom named Komurmallu from Gunjapadugu village (Jagtial district) was heading with his family and friends to marry Bhagya from Ganneruvaram. The wedding was scheduled for 10:30 a.m., but nature had other plans.
On their way, the procession got stuck at a bridge near Ganneruvaram that was submerged by gushing floodwaters. Cars couldn’t cross, leaving the groom and his party stranded on one side while the bride’s anxious family waited on the other.
A Test of Friendship
After hours of waiting, the groom’s friends and relatives decided to take matters into their own hands. In a heartwarming yet risky act of courage, they lifted the groom onto their shoulders and, with the help of local villagers, carefully waded through the overflowing waters.
While some balanced the groom, others ensured his shoes, mobile phone, and wedding attire remained safe and dry. Finally, after nearly four hours of delay, the groom reached the wedding venue, much to the relief of the bride’s family.

The wedding rituals were completed later in the afternoon, with both families heaving a sigh of relief. Local villagers who witnessed the scene described it as “a wedding story to remember for a lifetime.”
Videos of the incident, showing the groom being carried across the flood-hit stream, have since gone viral on social media—drawing both admiration and amusement from netizens.
Despite the hurdles, the couple’s big day was sealed with joy, proving once again that when it comes to love, even raging waters can’t stand in the way.
