Hyderabad: In a remarkable initiative to inspire cross-border dialogue and promote peace across South Asia, the Doyens of Peace, a pan-Southasian network of NGOs, youth groups, educational institutions, unions, and professional bodies, has announced a unique video competition for youth aged 15 to 25 years from South Asia or of South Asian origin.
“My Vision for South Asia” – A Youth-Led Call to Action
The competition invites young people to submit 5-minute videos on the theme:
“My Vision for South Asia if I am the President / Prime Minister of my Country”
This includes participants from the eight SAARC countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
The initiative is being launched as part of the 1st SAARC Civil Society Commemoration scheduled for 12th August 2025, aligning with the International Youth Day. The event will also pay tribute to the legendary peace champions Admiral L. - Join virtual cross-border events and campaigns
- Receive fortnightly newsletters with updates from partner organizations
- Contribute to shared platforms that promote peace, understanding, and regional cooperation
In a region often marked by political and cultural divides, this initiative aims to empower the next generation to engage with common regional concerns, from climate change and unemployment to education and gender equity, and offer collective solutions.
Speaking about the campaign, Mazher Hussain of COVA Peace Network stated,
“This is a call for youth to imagine beyond borders and take ownership of the region’s future. South Asia needs young leaders who can think regionally while acting locally.”
