Davos: Telangana has taken another significant step in strengthening its clean energy portfolio, with a Slovakia-based company proposing to develop a Small Modular Reactor (SMR)–based nuclear power project in the state with an investment of around ₹6,000 crore.

Nuclear Products, a company promoted through a joint partnership between Slovakia’s IQ Capital and India’s Green House Enviro, has submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Government of Telangana for setting up the SMR-based power generation project.

The proposal was discussed during the World Economic Forum 2026 meetings in Davos, where representatives of the company met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

High-Level Meeting at WEF 2026

The meeting was attended by IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, IQ Capital Group Chairman Dr. John Babik, Group CEO and Director Anil Kumar Bavisetti, Green House Enviro CEO and Director Molugu Sripal Reddy, and Slovak Republic Consul Matus Zemes.

During the discussions, the company outlined its plans to explore the feasibility of setting up a new nuclear power project in Telangana with a maximum capacity of up to 300 MW, based on advanced SMR technology, which is considered safer, scalable, and more efficient than conventional nuclear reactors.

Telangana’s Commitment to Clean Energy

Addressing the delegation, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reaffirmed the Telangana government’s strong commitment to promoting clean and green energy projects. He emphasized that sustainable development would be the cornerstone of Telangana’s growth strategy and underlined the state’s resolve to contribute meaningfully to India’s net-zero targets by 2047.

The Chief Minister noted that Telangana is keen on encouraging investments that combine technological innovation with environmental responsibility, particularly in emerging energy domains such as nuclear, renewable, and green infrastructure.

Investment Details

The total proposed investment for the project is estimated at €600 million (approximately ₹6,000 crore). If realized, the project would mark a major milestone for Telangana by bringing SMR-based nuclear power generation to the state, enhancing energy security while reducing carbon emissions.

The proposal is currently under preliminary consideration, and further technical, regulatory, and environmental evaluations are expected as the discussions progress.

This development reinforces Telangana’s growing reputation as a forward-looking destination for global clean energy investments, showcased prominently during the World Economic Forum 2026 deliberations in Davos.
