Hyderabad, August 23, 2025 – Telangana is charting new skies in tourism with the launch of an ambitious heli-tourism service from Hyderabad to Srisailam via Somasila, in collaboration with travel agency Ease My Services. The initiative, announced by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, is expected to transform the state’s tourism landscape by offering quicker connectivity, creating new employment avenues, and accelerating infrastructure growth.
The helicopter tour package will provide a unique aerial experience for travelers, allowing them to enjoy scenic views of the Krishna River, Somasila backwaters, and the dense Nallamala forests before reaching the renowned Srisailam temple town.
A Holistic Push for Tourism Development
Alongside heli-tourism, the Telangana government has laid the foundation for multiple tourism projects aimed at diversifying visitor experiences and enhancing local infrastructure:
- Somasila Wellness and Spiritual Retreat – A serene riverside destination designed to promote yoga, meditation, and spiritual healing amidst nature.
- Amargiri Island Wellness Retreat Center – A luxury wellness hub promising rejuvenation therapies, holistic health practices, and eco-friendly stays.
- Somasila VIP Ghat Boating Point – Upgraded boating facilities catering to domestic and international tourists for an immersive river experience.
- Renovation of the Chenchu Tribal Museum – Reviving and modernizing the cultural center to showcase the heritage, traditions, and lifestyle of the indigenous Chenchu tribe.
- New Entry and River Cruise Facilities at Eegalapanta – Infrastructure upgrades to provide seamless access and unique cruise experiences along the Krishna River.
Driving Employment and Connectivity
Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao emphasized that these initiatives are not only aimed at attracting visitors but also at generating local employment and creating new entrepreneurial opportunities for communities living around Somasila, Srisailam, and adjoining regions.
“Heli-tourism will redefine the way people travel to spiritual and eco-tourism hubs in Telangana. Our integrated projects will make the state a sought-after destination for wellness, nature, and cultural tourism,” the minister said.
Telangana’s Tourism Vision
With this launch, Telangana joins the list of Indian states actively promoting helicopter tourism to bridge the gap between spiritual circuits, nature retreats, and modern wellness experiences. By linking Hyderabad’s urban base with the tranquil Somasila backwaters and Srisailam’s spiritual heritage, the state aims to position itself as a holistic tourism destination on the national and global map.
