Political Controversy Over Funding

While the event promises to be a grand spectacle, it has not been without controversy. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of allocating ₹200 crore for the Miss World event while allegedly failing to clear dearness allowance arrears for state employees.

“Spending ₹46 crore for a Formula-E race in Hyderabad was deemed wrong, but spending ₹200 crore of public money on Miss World, a beauty contest, is justified? What is this perverse logic? Can you please explain, Rahul Gandhi?” KTR posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

However, Telangana’s Principal Secretary (Tourism), Smitha Sabharwal, refuted the allegations, clarifying that the government is spending only ₹27 crore, with the majority of the event’s funding sourced through corporate sponsorships.

A Historic Moment for Hyderabad

Despite political debates, the Miss World 2025 pageant is expected to be a landmark event for Hyderabad, significantly boosting tourism, economic opportunities, and cultural exchange. With millions of viewers worldwide and international media coverage, Telangana will seize this golden opportunity to showcase its vibrancy and blend of heritage and modernity on a global platform.

As the world’s eyes turn towards Hyderabad in May 2025, the city is all set to dazzle with its grandeur, culture, and hospitality, welcoming delegates from across the globe for an unforgettable celebration of beauty, talent, and unity.
