Hyderabad, Telangana – In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Telangana is set to unveil Hyderabad’s first artificial beach at Kotwal Guda by December 2025. The project, designed to redefine urban leisure, is expected to add a fresh dimension to the city’s tourism landscape.
A Unique Urban Experience
Unlike conventional amusement spaces, the artificial beach will offer Hyderabadis a coastal vibe right in the heart of the city. With sand-stretches, wave pools, and dedicated recreational zones, the facility is being developed to replicate the ambience of a seaside holiday without the need to travel far.
Officials from the Telangana Tourism Department highlighted that the project aims to cater to families, youngsters, and domestic tourists looking for unique weekend getaways. “Hyderabad has a rich cultural and historical appeal. With the artificial beach, we are bringing in a modern, leisure-driven attraction to diversify the city’s tourism offerings,” said a senior official.
Why Kotwal Guda?
Kotwal Guda, strategically located with good connectivity, was chosen for its accessibility and potential to become a tourist hub. The site is being redeveloped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including parking, food courts, and entertainment facilities to ensure a complete experience for visitors.
Boost to Tourism and Economy
Tourism experts believe the artificial beach will significantly boost Hyderabad’s image as a cosmopolitan destination. While the city is already renowned for Charminar, Golconda Fort, and Ramoji Film City, the new beach promises to attract both local crowds and outstation tourists seeking a novel experience.
Local businesses, especially the food, retail, and hospitality sectors, are expected to benefit from the surge in footfall once the facility opens. The project is also seen as a step toward Telangana’s broader vision of promoting urban tourism and creating new revenue streams through innovative recreational projects.
What Visitors Can Expect

A December Debut
The Telangana government has announced that the project is on a fast track and will be ready for public access by December 2025. Once inaugurated, Hyderabad will join a select few Indian cities experimenting with artificial beaches as urban attractions.
With this initiative, Telangana hopes to create a landmark spot that combines leisure, tourism, and entertainment—cementing Hyderabad’s reputation not just as a tech and heritage hub, but also as a modern urban holiday destination.
