Telangana’s life sciences sector has witnessed a remarkable 23% growth in recent years, significantly outpacing India’s national average of 14%. This surge has cemented Hyderabad’s reputation as a preferred destination for life sciences and healthcare (LSHC) companies.
In a major boost to the sector, Amgen, a US-based biopharmaceutical giant, has inaugurated its largest innovation centre in Hyderabad. The company’s CEO, Robert Bradway, announced a $200 million (~₹1,600 crore) investment for a 5.24 lakh sq ft facility in Madhapur’s IT hub. With a capacity to house 3,000 employees, Amgen plans to make further investments in the city in the coming years.

The 22nd edition of BioAsia 2025, hosted in Hyderabad, reaffirmed the city’s dominance in the global life sciences landscape. Global biopharma leader MSD has joined Hyderabad’s thriving life sciences ecosystem. At the summit, Dave Williams, MSD’s Executive Vice President and Chief Information & Digital Officer, highlighted the company’s multi-therapy approach spanning oncology, diabetes, vaccines, and animal health.
He emphasized the importance of fostering a digital mindset in life sciences, stating, “This goes beyond having great technologists; it involves helping business partners understand how technology can transform the industry and accelerate processes for patients.”

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing drug discovery and development, a key focus at BioAsia 2025. Saptarsi Haldar, Amgen’s VP and Research Head, explained how AI is transforming processes, from protein engineering to clinical trials and regulatory approvals.
