Hyderabad: The newly developed Cherlapalli Railway Station in Hyderabad is now ready to serve the public, with all construction work completed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the newly constructed terminal on January 6, 2025, at 10:30 am. Union Minister for Coal and Mines Kishan Reddy will also attend the inauguration ceremony at Cherlapalli.

To address the growing traffic and commuter needs, railway officials have developed the Cherlapalli Railway Station on the city’s outskirts.
Built at a cost of Rs 428 crore, the terminal boasts modern infrastructure and an airport-like appearance. The new facility will open to passengers on Monday.
Once operational, the Cherlapalli terminal is expected to alleviate the traffic burden for approximately 50,000 passengers, reducing their travel hassles. While 25 pairs of trains currently halt at Cherlapalli, the new terminal will enable 50 trains to operate daily.
Traffic Shift From Secunderabad
A total of 19 tracks have been provided, ensuring faster travel to key destinations. Trains bound for Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, and Vizag will now operate from Cherlapalli, easing congestion at Secunderabad station. Among the trains starting from Cherlapalli are the Gorakhpur–Secunderabad Express, MGR Chennai Central–Hyderabad Express, and Shalimar–Hyderabad East Coast Express. Trains like the Guntur–Secunderabad Golconda Express and Secunderabad–Sirpur Kagaznagar Express will also stop at Cherlapalli.
Railway Station Features
The new terminal features nine platforms, six escalators, and two foot-overbridges, including two MMTS platforms. Facilities such as air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned waiting halls, food courts, restaurants, reservation counters, and ticket counters have also been set up for passengers.
