Hyderabad: A case has been registered against the management of a city mall and the event organisers after actress Nidhhi Agerwal was allegedly mobbed by a large crowd during a promotional event held in Hyderabad on Thursday, police officials confirmed.

The incident occurred after the launch of a song from the upcoming Telugu film ‘The Raja Saab’, starring Prabhas, which drew an unexpectedly massive turnout of fans and onlookers. According to police, inadequate crowd control measures and lack of coordination with law enforcement led to a chaotic situation at the venue.

Officials said that the event was conducted without obtaining mandatory prior permission from the police authorities. As the crowd surged forward to catch a glimpse of the actress, security arrangements reportedly failed, resulting in a brief stampede-like situation. Though no serious injuries were reported, the incident raised serious concerns over public safety.

Following preliminary inquiries, a case was booked against the mall management and the organisers under relevant sections for negligence and violation of public safety norms. Police have stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain responsibility and to determine whether additional legal action is warranted.

Senior police officials reiterated that organising public events, especially those involving popular film personalities, requires strict adherence to safety protocols and official permissions. “Such lapses can endanger lives. We will take firm action to prevent recurrence,” a police official said.

Meanwhile, the actress was escorted safely out of the venue, and sources close to the film unit said she is safe. The makers of The Raja Saab have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
